Outer-Spacey
On the Apollo 10 "alien" sounds:
'Music' Heard by Apollo 10 Astronauts at the Moon Not from Aliens
The explanation was thought to be like ring-modulation:
102:18:10 Young: Probably due to the VHF ranging, I'd guess.
Evidently, they also occur in the deep sea as well.
I would imagine there are lots of potential sounds from the universe, but they rely on technologies sophisticated enough to interpret them. If they are messages of some kind, the civilization sending them (or sent them) might have sent them thousands of years ago. Our reply would take as long to be received and then the surreply. That would be 3000 years for one exchange, if in fact we could learn that "language" well enough to write a coherent reply, and keep the language from going extinct.

Post-script:
"Maybe super-advanced beings will relinquish the physical world, dwelling in the nooks and crannies of extra dimensions." Why our imagination for alien life is so impoverished
