Metaphor Swaps (Cont.)
This was a pull from Rebecca Solnit's "The Faraway Nearby", and I swapped the word "book" for "painting", and "reader" for "viewer", amplifying the musical metaphor.
The object we call a painting is not the real painting, but its potential, like a musical score or seed. It exists fully only in the act of being seen; and its real home is inside the head of the viewer, where the symphony resounds, the seed germinates. A painting is a heart that only beats in the chest of another.
