Primacy of the Interface
The computer screen must be having insidious effects. It's the first thing people look at in the morning (I do, but it's a surface for writing). Later in the day I use the mobile interface.
Using the thumbs for writing has changed the way I think, in the same way that using computer keyboards and interfaces have changed the way we think about music (and what music is).
If you're a musician, get back to the acoustic instruments. As much as I like electronic instruments, the tactile feedback from natural materials will affect the way you think.
I am still bullish on haptics, but not to the exclusion of natural materials.
