Cliffs Notes of Pop

Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge. Someone born at the turn of the century probably doesn't know what that means. Most of us don't know certain historical trivia, just as some don't know modern trivia or nostalgias.

One of the David Bowie tribute books, "On Bowie" by Rob Sheffield is peppered with lyric references, e.g. "I never waved bye-bye. But I try. I try". Now anyone can look up the "Cliffs Notes" on YouTube, and perhaps never read the "book". Some people are already fine with the Cliffs Notes version of David Bowie, and other Boomer pop stars, and could re-define who they are, or what they were known for. David Bowie is the exception given that he already created the Cliffs Notes of his life in hundreds of interviews, not aware at the time that there would be a YouTube that would become its Archive.
