The War On Disco
In 1979, Steve Dahl, a Chicago DJ staged the "Disco Demolition" at Comiskey Park in Chicago as a protest against the "attack" of disco on American music. It's like a war against terrorism: You can vehemently militate against it, but ultimately it will still exist as an idea.
The idea of terrorism, with its ability to proliferate and mutate, has a limitless possibility for prevailing into perpetuity. You can blow up a bunch of records in an attempt to rid the world of ideas or ways of life you don't like, but the seeds of those ideas are deeply hidden in the ground [or in tunnels].
In retrospect, we can't deny Disco had a profound effect on the development of pop music as we experience it today, [EDM for example].
