Moongazing vs. Marsgazing

The main distinction between the landing on the moon and a landing on Mars is that Mars is not always visible in the sky with the naked eye, and is beyond our contemplative gaze. When it is visible, it will be a reminder of what ultimately happened there, as an "Overview Effect”. But the farther you go the less the effect of the gaze, with the naked eye or otherwise. A successful landing on Titan would be a reminder only when we are prompted to look at Saturn when it becomes visible in the night sky. It’s not like the Moon, that is a clear and constant reminder of a place we had successfully explored, and appears both in the nighttime and daytime sky. It will be like looking at Earth from Pluto, just another speck of light.
