Brouhaha, Balderdash, Ballyhoo
When I was first learning music in the early 1980s, I relied on several different sources, primarily magazine articles. I began to understand modes from an article in Bass Player Magazine circa 1981 I recall. I had already been in music school at that point and had been through several music theory classes. Those two combined, helped me to understand modes. Today, people learn on the internet and social media, and I've found it confusing to wade through all the comments. The whole point is to learn the new tools and make music. It's harder than it used to, or should, be.
The lyrics of "Elephant Talk" by King Crimson (also 1981) are apropos, and also very clever and abecedarian (ABCD...):
