Bought U2's 'Pop" and Bowie's 'Earthling'. Decidedly fin de siecle.

2017: It's interesting that there's an entire generation between those releases and now, that are still in the generational mix. In retrospect, it really did sound like the end of the century, reactive perhaps to Rodney King, the first WTC bombing, Waco, and the Oklahoma City bombing. The Internet was brand new and pregnant with the future. Bowie's interpretation of the time was spot-on, and sounded more fin-du-monde than U2.
