Generative Music Apps
There is no doubt that algorithms can compose, but it's the composer that is ultimately at the controls of the perceptions and expectations of the listener.
I have heard some good generative music based on the Lydian mode, that could function as ambient music--just one step up from pink noise. Eno has obviously been doing this for decades, only with algorithms created organically, not with "code". I also wonder how generative music can get into a daily rotation of listening, as it would have to be connected to a sound card and sound fonts and/or samples. How could it work in a Spotify for example? What you'd want is a separate Spotify/Pandora that plays samples and segments in a random order.
