RIP David Bowie

 

A creative powerhouse gone dark.

We assume that an artist's work ends with their life, but art can make you immortal. It is the task of an artist's followers to continue the paths laid down by their heroes, such that the death of one artist does not end that path.

Ellsworth Kelly also recently passed, at age 93, still making art. David Hockney, almost 80 still smoking and making art, Jasper Johns in his 80s as well. If you've ever made art as a form of "sustenance" (as David Bowie once expressed on the purpose of art), you do it until you drop. Hopefully you'd get to the Magnum Opus or the Black Star. People that create know that there's always a list of ideas waiting to be resolved and made.
