New Framing of Common Objects

What happens to 2D art objects once the digital versions become more popular than the original? Ultra hi-res scans of paintings on Google Art Project are in most cases better because you can look at them up close, and as frequently as the artist when s/he was making them.

In the future the "interface" will access the information that comprises an artwork, and will become more like photography where Validated Reality is captured, manipulated and framed (physically and metaphorically).
