Discovering new music is never easy
Even with the ease of sharing on social media, getting around to all the new releases is a chore in itself, as I'm usually drawn to back catalog.
Like conceptual art, discovery of the artist's intention is never easy, but eventually you like a lot of it and it goes into rotation, and is ultimately enriching.
In the old radio days one had favorite DJs pre-packaging potential influences, now musicians have to wade through it all. In visual art there's the load of Art Forums and Flash Art to peruse for the new interesting work.
