Once when I visited the Field Museum in Chicago, there was one small diorama in a vitrine that served as chronology of artifacts from thousands of years ago to the recent past. The recent past was represented by a Windows 95 installation disc from 1994, a bathetic object made of degradable plastic containing obsolete technology. The distant past, a cuneiform tablet. It was a weird juxtaposition, but perhaps there was some shared cultural DNA.
