I discovered this video on YouTube that nicely demonstrates the intimate connection between language and music. While Jeff Berlin does this as a joke, you can hear what happens when you displace the words to the national anthem by one beat. Language is so tightly connected with rhythm and meter that displacement in time changes its cadence. Some may view this as heresy, or just stupid human tricks, but his point is well taken, i.e. 'rubato' stylings of the national anthem can be equally annoying.
