Here is an interesting mashup of Brian Eno talking about social emergence and either Aphex Twin's own sonic treatments, or mashup of Eno's work.

What may seem obvious on first hearing (i.e. he is essentially talking about a 'suburb'), becomes more clear as you think about it. The story about the village is essentially a metaphor for faith, fate and morality and how randomness and emergent behaviors work with or against those things.
