Obama and boundaries

Obama is the first 'boundary' candidate. He personifies the boundary of race and racial discrimination, literally and metaphorically. (He doesn't sound black and looks only slightly black) Boundaries are interesting places to be, as you are constantly having to check your identity--and ultimately realize that it has no significance--at least from one's own perspective. The danger with Obama is that race will define his presidency, and will be the undercurrent of many other policies.
