Information Cascades

This is an example of the phenomenon of "emergence" where behaviors are guided by simple, iterated rules (cybernetics). The irony is that the theory of emergence is essentially based on cascades. Phil Zambardo's excellent book "The Lucifer Effect" also touches on this phenomenon, i.e. how good people turn evil in the flow of behavioral dynamics.
