The inventor becomes irrelevant

There was an article in the Chicago Trib about European and Asian countries discovering their own identities in pop music, and no longer feel that deference to the American legacy is required, or that a certain "royalty" needs to be paid to the U.S. as progenitor of the art form. As American pop music describes American experiences through sound and language, other countries can shape their own narratives as well. After a certain period of time the inventor becomes irrelevant and the invention again sounds unique.
