You have to be willing to surrender to the moment

Watched interview with Keith Jarrett on PBS. I like what he said about ideas getting in the way: If you want a sense of spirituality to emerge in a piece of music, you have to be willing to surrender to the moment, and apply analysis sparingly--or perfect your craft to the point where it can be made invisible. It's really a balancing act of right and left brain: The left provides structure for inspiration, the right the outer "skin". (Will this ever sink in?)
